This is a heads up for the second visit to Charleville Castle, near the lovely county town of Offaly, Tullamore.

The investigation is due to take place on June the 19th, and there are already a few people interested. Anyone else want to take advantage this opportunity to take part in the investigation?

kennett, just out of curiosity, is your step dad the shaman in kildare?
I don't know his name, but was involved in a near fatal car accident where he had nde and got into shamanism afterwards. Just wondering because my mother paid him a visit couple of years ago..and well..your from kildare.

meant to put this on the where is everybody from thread.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,633 ✭✭✭stormkeeper

No, he isn't. My step dad actually lives in Carlow these days. What part of Kildare is he from? I live in Naas myself.

Personally, I would love to embark on such a quest, especially a quest which could result in some serious findings, however i won't be in the country then.

Basically, my point to this post is that i hope when the journey to the castle in tullamore is complete, relevant findings and other such info will be posted, as i would love to read more about this.

Take care all and I hope to read more about your findings

Methinks the best thing to do is go around from midnight till about 5 in the mornin with a nightvision camera and no other source of light. To the Dungeons, the Chapel , the Tower and the Staircase. Whos with me? (Drunk of course) i dont know what posessed me one night to do this for about an hour on my own. Probably just want to be scared. Hopefully someone can help me out.

Nick, are you going (do I have you on my list?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,497 ✭✭✭Nick_oliveri

I volunteer at the castle and am interested in soiling my pants due the hairs standing up at the back of my neck and seeing something which resembles mist manifesting itself into human form. So i hope no one will mind if im there on the night.

Sure nick. Send on your info to me and I'll hold you on the lists. Just end me on yotu phonenumber too. Cheers

    Ian, Kennett.
Be advised that your article on Charleville refers to Connie.....
This is an error, the lady's name in question is Bonnie.!
    FYI:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,633 ✭✭✭stormkeeper

    Ooops, sorry :o

Damn, those names are hard to separate... :dunno:

Sounds interesting. Dont know if i could make it but is there a cost involved? I would imagine there would be to stay overnight in a castle.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 607 ✭✭✭malico

Saruman, We have a deal in place with the castle in question that we do osome work for them and we dont pay!!

    Ian

Hmm that sounds cool ill think about it. I know someone who is very interested too.
Not sure what i can bring to the hunt since i have never done it before. I do have a 0 lux sony camcorder so it has nightvision. Umm digital camera, an SLR with wide angle and telephoto lense. If a laptop is any help i have one too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,633 ✭✭✭stormkeeper

Anything you feel that will contribute to the cause bring it along. Don't feel intimidated by the fact that some of us have more specialised equipment. We just had more time to research what to bring first time around... ;)

PS: Thanks for the name change Ian :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 607 ✭✭✭malico

    NP andy.

Saruman, the 0 lux is definatly needed! (I borrowed the last one I got!)

You and your g/f and friend are sefinatly welcome. Think of it, how else will you get to stay in a real, restoration Gothic Revival castle?

    Certainly sounds interesting.

I dont post on the paranormal normally (paranormally?) as I tend to be .. not sceptical.. more realist ( no insult intended, I prefer to look at "normal" explainations before assuming paranormal activity but I do believe that there are many things that cannot be explained - at least for now).

I have always had an interest in the paranormal though I am in no way an expert I have read quite a bit and love listening to people who know about it discussing it. (I still do not believe however that after reading one mass produced book, your average teenage girl can suddenly see auras and affect the outcome of others lives through the power of her mind and a few props).

Any, the long and short, I'd be interested in going along on the 19th. Can bring camcorder nad camera and I'll pick up a ton of thermometers :)

After reading your report from the first visit, I'd volunteer if you want someone to kip in the livery section... as long as there's a way back inside.. just for everyone else's peace of mind of course.

I'm sure you'd be welcome along, just email Ian your email address, your Boards nick and real name, and he'll do the rest :)

    Hi,

I am Ro and I am a newbie but am very interested in taking part (I sent you an email about it, Ian).

The only problem is, I am not sure how I am going to get down there as I don't have a car...is there a train or something that leads directly to the castle from Dublin?

I know, a silly question but its my first time doing anything like this....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,633 ✭✭✭stormkeeper

Don't worry about it. If we didn't ask silly questions, we'd all end up being ignorant :)

Anyway, to answer your GOOD question, there is indeed a train that goes from Dublin Heuston to Tullamore. If I recall correctly, it's the train the Galway... Tickets are 25 Euro for monthly return.

We'll all be going in a group, so we'll prolly come up with a good meeting area or something like that. Also if you have any more "silly questions", just ask! :)

    Hey!

Thanks for answering my question on the other thread. (and this one of course).

I have one more question, is it wise to bring a packed lunch or will we be buying food down there?

Theres a Lidl in the town that we'll probably be visiting again, although the range there is a bit limited. It still might be worth bringing down something small to munch for the train down or lateron that night. If you have room I'd certinly say it would be worthwile bringing a change (t-shirt/top and jeans/trousers/whatever) of clothes, the castle is a bit damp in places and it can cling to your clothes giveing you that not nice damp feeling :/

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 607 ✭✭✭malico

    Ahh the nice damp feeling!

    Thanks for the advice...

BTW do you know what work we will have to do for the owners of the castle?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,633 ✭✭✭stormkeeper

If I recall correctly, we'll be helping out with the fete, maybe doing manual labour?

Went down the other night (da castle) to see off the Pheonix UNI crowd that were there. Three ghosthunters / phychics were there (not Pheonix affiliated) that i met last year. Im currently in the process of trying to get the footage of Harriet on the staircase that they got and convert it to avi / mpeg somehow and host it on my website. Supposedly she's quite obvious and to quote the phychic "Almost 3d". During the "ghosthunt" the other night, one of the Pheonix crowd took a photo of a random place with a digital camera and you could see this misty arm reaching out somewhere very plainly. Good stuff. The skeptics amoung them (including me) were mystified.

That's pretty cool. I'd love to see that.

Lookign foreard to seeing you there Nick

sounds great. I would love to see it too, can't wait for you to host it on the website

Firsty im gonna try n get their E-mail addy or fone number off Dudley.
Secondly i need a copy of the tape.
Thirdly i need the equipment for converting ( a tricky one but i might manage )
All in all i cant promise much, but i'll try my best.
If the thirdly thing is impossible for me could someone do it for me if i sent them the tape? ( - Tv- in card required - )

i'll also try and get that photo i was blabbering on about.

    *looks around intentivly*

    so.... what happened??

    hehehe

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,633 ✭✭✭stormkeeper

A lot. Orb activity, evil being vanquished.... Poltergeist activity, momentary possession. And that's summing it up in a line.

The druids grotto was fascinating though, the energy there was electric!
