ok so you have a band and are gigging and then one of your band starts a big relationship and then you never seem to get any time from him/her. How do you motivate them????

Tell them to shape up or ship out, simple as that. It's not fair that the rest of the band are putting all their time into the band and he's more of a tourist.

You don't. They have to be into it themselves or it will never work. You just can't have one person being dragged by the others, chances are it will increase tensions within the band and eventually make things unpleasant for everyone. They've gotta pull their weight or else you gotta think about finding a replacement. Tough, I know, but it's hard enough to be in a band without the extra hassle of somone not carrying their weight. You've got to be in it together, there is no other way.

    Just my experiences.

    Good luck.

Tell them, "Hey we're jamming on saturday, we have some ideas, what time can you be there at?"

If he makes an excuse, just say "Thats ok, our other guitarist/bassist/singer/drummer, can make it"
