Anyone see the article in Angling Times recently about using prawns for tench ??

Just wondered if any of you have used prawn for coarse fishing ?

I think it was the first week of May (may have been the last week of April) - just moved house, so catching up on back issues. Basically the guy microwaves frozen praws for a minute on 'high' and then uses the middle of the prawn as hookbait (the microwaving gives it a better texture for staying on the hook) & loose feeds the ends.

He was saying that its good for roach and a few other species as wel.

I'll dig out the paper see if I can find a link

You will catch Tench on Prawns but they tend to be a bit selective, the smaller fish are'nt really interested, sound like what you want but if there are no big fish you'll blank. You can also try cockles, they work very well but go easy on the loose feed as they will fill the fish up very quickly, I'd suggest a fishmeal based groundbait if you plan on using either.
