Washer/Dryer

Everybody warns me against combination washing-machine/dryers. I'd like to get one for space reasons. Has anybody had one of these that made it to it's 10th birthday or beyond? If so what make and model?

Mods - if this would be better posted in another forum, my apologies.

Friend of mine used to service them, said they're a load of sh!t, but if you were to get one, zanussi would last longest (even longer than Hoover).

Bear in mind, if its a rented gaff, there may be a lot of loads waiting to be washed/dried.

The thing is that if it breaks down you'll be doubly fcuked because you won't be able to wash OR dry your clothes.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll look at mounting a condenser dryer on wall brackets over the washing machine....

I have one. It's a hoover, and it's not great. The washing machine part is grand, but the dryer is complete crap. It's only when i opened the machine one time i understand why - the fan, heater and condenser are tiny. Get the separate dryer.

Yup, have a Whirlpool 2 in 1 ... Washes fine, can't dry to save it's life. You've practically got to have it empty to pull off drying the load in a single go.

By the sounds of it, you have the same one we have in this rented house....

We've been using it fairly heavily for three years and it hasn't broken yet. You can only fully dry half loads in it, but if you do a full wash and put the dryer on it drys the clothes out loads. You'll almost find that if you do that then when the cycle finishes if you take the clothes out of the dryer when they are still hot you'll be able to dry them more, due to the evaporation and the water being able to escape.
