Galway Accommodation

Has anybody got any experience with Dúnáras student accommodation in Galway? I'm thinking of applying (since Gort na Coiribe is fully booked and 170 people on the waiting list) but it does seem a bit far out (Bishop O'Donnel road - out in the Westside area). The room *sounds* good (I haven't actually seen it, but they do have internet access and en-suite as standard). The price is €3420 for the year, plus a €685 deposit (€200 of which is refundable, less any damage costs). A little steep? Works out at €90 a week. Any thoughts?

(I'm going to be going into 1st year, so I'm not really able to rent a private house/appartment, I'm trying to get into a student village. Dúnáras seems to be the only one with availability - possibly a bad thing? I just got onto Menlo Park, and apparently they have some availability. Prices roughly the same, but maybe a little closer (I'm assuming it's beside the hotel, near the roundabout?). Anybody have any experience in Menlo Park or Dúnáras?

One of my friends is going to Dúnáras - she says it looks quite good. Have you thought about Corrib Village? Its where I'm going to be staying. Yes, I know it's a bit of a dump, but it'll be good for the first year while I get to know people. There's something like 1000 students there. The website is www.corribstudents.com, I think.

Thanks, but I already got a place in Menlo Park after I realised exactly where Dunáras is. Very far out, and not a great area. Corrib Village is ok, bit of an expensive dump, but i suppose it's the only alternative if you can't get into Gort Na Coiribe. Menlo Park is a nice balance though, not too far out, nice rooms, a bit on the expensive side, but much better location and facilities.
