browser hijack crap...

    I have been the victim of one of them nast browser hijackers. It sends me to 'virginschool****tgp.com' or something to that effect every time i type an address. (Would be all well and good if i was still 14) I can only get anywhere through a complicated mess of links and search engines. I've already tried ad-aware, CWShredder and Spybot- Search and Destroy. Can anyone suggest a solution that does not involve a system re-initialisation?

    I assume you're on IE why dont you just pick up another brower. If you cant d/l one in you're current state try to pick one off a cover disk. Or get one of the ppl on her to burn you a copy.

    Also try pest patrol it gives good results for me.

    did you update the reflist for ad-aware,etc? and no luck?

    remove IE. manual clearing... and pick up another browser :dunno:

    Sounds like it could be this nasty piece of crap . Thats a nice Wired article about it. If you are looking for more information try this site.
    As already suggested you could just change your browser to something like Mozilla Firebird. It's a fast, smooth browser with ad and pop-up blocker so no more annoyances.

    On a side note here is an interesting article on how CWS may have been the cause for ruining some peoples lives. Thats just a bit of scare mongering :)

    Yeah, got opera now, way better than IE anyway! Cheers for the help. Hope i dont end up like that poor granny. Suppose i'll need to remove IE now totally and run cleanspace but if that doesn't do the job, it'll be like 'oh, he tried to erase his tracks' only the guilty run and all that crap. Coolwebsearch should be wiped out. Maybe some hackers out there should **** them over, set their homepage to the vatican! lol! :D Seriously, them ****ers get anything they deserve. I believe i was infected by a 'free' screensaver my sister downloaded and installed without reading the licence agreement as you should ALWAYS do with downloads.
