Anyone feeling charitable

    Hi

Last year I saw a thing on BBC about the current aids crisis hitting various parts of Africa. I was gobsmacked and thought I'd like to try and do some little thing to raise money for charities such as Christian Aid who are working on the ground out there.

The more I read up on the subject, the more I was amazed at how little there was about it in the mainstream media. More recently there has been a bit more coverage and a bit more international exposure. Thankfully.

The figures and the statistics are shocking. Quite simply hundreds and thousands of kids being orphaned by aids.

Anyway, I've been writing songs for years so I thought I'd put together an album, sell it on CDbaby.com and give the money I made from it to the various charities working on the ground. Just the other day I was able to send off the equivalent of $106 dollars to Christian aid. Just a drop in the ocean I guess but at least its something. And its made me want to become much more active about promoting it.

The cd is called 'Songs from the Spare Room' and you can hear samples and buy it at http://www.cdbaby.com/johnkennedy

I recorded it in my bedroom on a little four track and some pretty crap gear so please don't expect the best mixes in the world!! We're talking demo quality here, ok so I don't want any smartarse criticism about the sound quality. I just want you to go take a listen. If you like it, cool, go buy and go tell everyone. If you don't like it, just leave it there.

But even if you don't want to purchase it, please help spread the word a bit. And please be assured this isn't a scam or anything. All the money I make will be contributed.

(by the way I put the record together when I was living in Milton Keynes - in case you're wondering about the UK address!)

    Ta

    nice one.
and if you would like to remix it and work on it in a studio - you are invited to do so at my studio for FREE as long as you continue to give the profits for charity.
    cheers.

    hey thanks balaftuna

nice website btw and nice looking set-up

to be honest I wouldn't know where to start in a studio though.

Actually, you might be able to hepl me here. In terms of a master, all I've got is the original CD that I recorded the stuff onto from the multi-track. Now, is there any way that the overall sound quality and stuff can be improved on that in a studio like yours (when you don't have the ability to split up the tracks and remix the thing entirely).....

(wish I'd done a sound engineering course and not a bleedin' marketing one!!)

hi ziggy. i can add a final mastering to your material and chances are that it will make a noticeable improvement to the sound quality.

i wonder if u could re do the piano and the vocals at the studio. this alone will make a huge improvement (loved your album, but found the piano sound a big lame).

    cheers.

wouldn't have the time at the mo I'm afraid.

doing the dreaded job-hunt thing (which is taking up pretty much all of my time)

tell you what though......if it is ok with you, I'll stick a cd of the album in the post and ask you to give it a bit of a mastering polish-up (whenever you've got nothing else on in the studio).

I'll grab your address off the website (I assume it's there) and get something in the psot to you in the next couple of days. And as I said, only when you've got nowt else to be doing.

    Lemme know....
