    On Urlan tv

A few months ago I went into the shop / office they have on Clare Street.
I was looking for CT 100 cable (Copper core, brade and foil).
They were going to sell me and Unknow (Copper core, Alu. brade and Alu. Foil) for 65c PerM.

When I asked for CT 100 with a Copper core, brade and foil I was told this is what they use for Sat. installs and that this is what I need.

Needless to say I said no thanks and went to Clanceys on O'Connel Street.
They had QF 100 with Copper core, brade and foil but the dilectric is foam and not stiff plastice and air. the QF 100 cost me 50c PerM i was getting 75M.

So if they don't know or care about the quality of cable what kind of quality of work do you think they have. Also they brand the Sat. dishs with "Urlan tv" in big green lettering.

I have heard of a company based in Birdhill, Co. TIpperary called Premier Digital
I only saw an add in the Limerick Chronicle one tuesday.

    HTH,
    Eóin

    Hi all,

I'm not sure but I think it's RG58U cable that they sell for 55c per metre.

They also sell it in 100M rolls for Eur35.

I have used Urlan TV a couple of times for installs of sky digital FTV setups and they are very professional. (They are the only people that I could find who would do an install on a 3 storey house in Annacotty, a lot of installers don't have the full kit - roof ladder etc)

IMHO, Oliver certainly knows his stuff and I think his people could do Satellite dish motorised installs. (although I have no experience with this myself)

    regards,
    Dave

75 Metres  , I don't think there are any buildings that high in Limerick.

Perhaps he was splitting the 75 metres between various rooms and attaching it all to one of those quad lnb's? I know I used about 17 metres between running cable through the attic and down walls and along the outside of house etc.

Whatever you may think of Urlan, the competition is MUCH worse...

I'd haggle with Mr. Oliver Gleeson over the price though.

They have been doing installs since before Sky existed.

The shop staff are often sales assistants and not technical.

If you don't like Urlan's quality or price, you're only other option is DIY. Beleive me some of the other guys you don't want them on your premises at all!

Probabily not even the evil Clarion (may it go green and mouldy) nor St. Johns, though it must be close.

Ronan|Raven was right I was running 3 lengths of 25M from a quad LNB I had installed.

I have already bought the cable in Clancys, it was about 2-3 months ago.

It may have been the shop staff at Clare Street did not know what the story was, i don't know but he was trying to tell me what I wanted when i know what i was after.

I was doing it myself i was only looking for cable from Urlan.

BTW I think the Clarion looks nice. But St. Johns looks great with the new Roof.
