    News over at http://www.gateworld.net/news/generalnews.html#newsitem1084901698,77842,

"two significant hurdles stand in the way of its renewal: the budget, and the on-going participation of actor Richard Dean Anderson"

Seems like a good thing but I would like to see some of season 8 first.

    Neonitrix :)

"I don't know if Rick would continue. But who knows? You never know until the offer's on the table. But I think the franchise now is becoming bigger than the people."

That last line is very true i douth stargate will end JUST because RDA isnt around he helped much like partrick stewerd helped star trek but like star trek stargate will go on fine with out him.

Also i see that stargate costs 1.7 million dollors per episode....Jesus

But ummm Star Trek: The Next Generation didn't survive without Stewart. Instead it got Deep Space Nine, a spinoff, just as we're getting "Stargate: Atlantis". A couple of series killed off their lead/removed them (Earth: Final Conflict for one), but it's rare for it to happen. I guess "The X-Files" shows it can occur, but maybe not work well.

That's peanuts. Enterprise gets twice that budget. Be interesting to see how they recoup the costs - through advertising? Syndication? DVD sales? Which is the strongest...

Says on that site that SCI-FI doesnt get any money from dvd or syndication that goes to the people that make it (MGM i think)

Wow i hope there is a season 9
Stargate without RDA would be odd,

I dunno. I'd rather have a brilliant series 8, and finish it off in spectacular style than have two more below-par series that just drag on. Lets face it - series 7 was a bit of a let-down.

It should finish on 8. It's just being dragged out at the moment.

Agreed. I quite enjoyed the second half. The first half was quite forgettable but, overall, I think the season suprasses season six.
