I've been getting this message for some time now, i think i need some advice on start up iam getting the message No drive attached to fasttrack controller. The bios is not installed. can someone tell me where have i gone wrong is it the connection on the mobo i have gone wrong. is it a setting in the bios or is it pysical…

can someone tell me where have i gone wrong is it the connection on the mobo i have gone wrong. is it a setting in the bios or is it pysical set up that is wrong.
I just have 1 HD as in sig

Any Ideas ?

Ah man had the exact same thing..

Set the promise controller to work in IDE and not Raid in the Bios.

In the mean time, put the hard drive on the SATA 1 or 2 and not the Raid 1 or 2 on the promise controller. Use the Raid 1 and 2 when you have the first 2 used up.

The message is normal when you have the Promise controller set to work in Raid.

yeah i have it in sata 1 at the mo i had a look in the bios cannt find the promise got directions?

Also i had a look in device manger and the Winxp Pormise FastTrack 378 Controller has a confilct i've tried uninstall same no change i also tried updating driver sit sasy it cant find a better match the device status is "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
iam really stuck any ideas

If you you have it in S-ATA 1, the Promise controller shouldn't be affecting you.

Is there two sets of S-ATA plugs on your board, maye about 3 inches apart from each other?

Ok i set it to ide but got message no device found bios not installed

Thats fine, just means there is no drives installed on it..

I had a similar problem a while back with my ASUS K8V deluxe motherboard: ASUS K8V Deluxe & Samsung SATA drive
You might want to do a search on boards.ie for SATA. I came across this thread which may be of help too.
