RTE TV in Europe?

Can anyone advise on what is needed to pick up RTE TV in Mainland Europe (like Northern Italy?)

I rang RTE but they don't seem to know and if they did they probably wouldn't tell me (and I even pay the licence fee)

I am hoping an Irish SKY subscription will do it but will it pick it up from there or would I need a 3 metre dish?

Any advice would be appreciated thanx

Works fine for me in Nice region of france with a 80cm dish ( drops out during thunderstorms , but otherwise ok. 3m would be serious overkill

Well, northern Italy is quite a large place. Where abouts are you thinking? I'm in Modena and you will need to get a 1.25m dish to get 2d here. A good box for fringe reception and a good LNB will ensure you get good reception all the time.

Let me know if you need any help. I was glad of all the help i got when I moving here. I'm still on an 85cm dish but hope to be moving apt soon where I can install a 1.25m dish.

    Paul

It's actually Ljubljana in Slovenia, which is an hour's drive form the Italian border (I feared not everyone would know where Ljubljana was, or even spell it!)

But the fact that it can be got in Modena should mean it can be got yeah?

Are you getting it through SKY? What harware did you need to brong from Ireland and what can u get locally?

Check out www.astra2d.co.uk for lots of reports from people as regards reception.

Modena is in the middle of northern Italy. Ljubljana is well east of me so I think you may need a larger dish. But no bigger than 1.5m. The furthest east in Italy I have seen people getting 2d is Venice and I think that had a 1.25m or 1.3m dish.

I bought a Panasonic TU-DSB 30 box from eBay, phoned Sky and got a new card from them. I did all this in Ireland. Then I packed it all up and moved over here. There was already an 80cm dish on the roof of the building that was not being used so I just got an engineer to call out and find the correct satellite for me. Its cost me 60euro but there was no way I was getting up on that roof!

I did look into getting larger dishes and they are easily available.

    Good luck.
