I have an Asus ATI 9200 and its got a VGA monitor connector and what it states is a DVI output on it.
I was trying to set up a second monitor on the DVI output and got a DVI to VGA converter however the DVI plug wont fit. Overall its the same shape and size but there are 4 little pins on it that are not on the graphics card so it wont plug in.

Are there different types of DVI connectors?
And am i right in thinking that i can run a second monitor from it? Windows seems to think i can.

You can... my graphics card happily does DVI and VGA outputs.

It does sound like you bought the wrong cable tbh.

Kinda looks like it. Its the DVI-A on the list here that i got:

Seems there are different types. Strange though, the diagram of the pins doesnt have the 4 extra pnes that are on mine.

    Thanks
