Cost of land

    Two questions:

    (i) What's the average cost of, let's say for discussion's sake, one third of an acre of land in rural Ireland?

(ii) What are the chances of getting that rezoned for residential use? As far as I know An Taisce are making it difficult in certain parts of the country - e.g. West of Ireland. Maybe they are right in doing so, but that's an argument I don't want to go into. But just how difficult is it, and what about other parts of the country?

    How long is a string?

Expect to pay €20,000/acre for agricultural land. The smaller the site the more per acre. Zoned land could easily fetch €100,000-200,000 per acre. Add auctioneer and solictot and stamp duty costs. Then add boundaries and services.

Unless it's Keery, it's quite difficult. If it was "easy" it would already be zoned.

Whats wrong with living in a town / village?

1/3 arce is too small, plannig permission in rural areas in 1/2 acre minimum ( in the midlands anyhow)

Nothing. In fact, I think I'd probably prefer to live in a town, even a city. I was just trying to estimate the cost of one compared to the other.
