    Hi,

Perhaps someone with electrical engineering skills lurking about could help me ID this fault with a 24" Sony FW900 CRT:

    - Screen is overbright, as if its brightness is maxed, even when set to Min.
    - Faded Static Lines, somewhat horizontal, in Red, Green and Blue across screen.
    - Image (easy to see on text) appears out of focus or doubled up, as if convergence is wrong.

I also have a faulty 21" Sony P1100 CRT (OEMed as HP). I brought it to PSRA in Bray who rather unhelpfully told me the "line output transformer is broken" and handed it back, claiming the parts arent available to fix it.

Is their somewhere else to post this on the boards, or anyone know a good monitor repair place?

    Matt

Im going to drop them into another repair place tomorrow. So far Im advised the problems are most likely to do with bad High voltage board or a bad flyback transformer and the focus problem is the result of overvoltage and thus blooming of the image.

    Any input appreciated! :p

maybe try using powerstrip for the brightness. I have an old gateway 19" which is too dark even with everything at max.
This helped make it useable again.
Dunno if this wil help you tho
