MARDI GRAS from Rome to Dublin

    Mardi Gras is the New Orleans famous Carnival, but it's even one of the records of the latest Creedence Clearwater Revival. Mardi Gras hails from Rome, Six and Fabrizio met at the "Salamandra 33" recording studios. Six was even a theatre actress, while Fabrizio played in different line ups. Their first demo "The moon ep" was released only in Ireland. The Irish magazine "Hot Press" reviewed it in the "Demo Dip" section hosted by Debbie Shkow. The "Ballads" ep produced by Daniele Macchi from Zoo di Venere, was released on Mardi Gras Day 2001. In May 2001 the Drop the Debt Campaign invited Mardi Gras in the tv programme L' Elmo di Scipio (Rai 3). They were filmed while performing a live set in the Salamandra 33 Recording Studios in Rome; The duo is also interviewed about the Drop the Debt international movement and their involvement in the campaign. In August 2001 Mardi Gras won the on line competition "I-dbox meeting Samigo"."Ballad of love" was the most voted song and on September 8th and 9th 2001 Mardi Gras performed at the first Meeting Samigo in Canelli (Asti). Songs from "Ballads" were broadcasted by the roman radio Radio BBS, Radio Rock and Radio Città Futura and by the based in Florence Nova Radio.In January 2002 they are guest of the Roman Samigo Tour opening three Interra Straniera gigs. Follow a gig in June 2002 for the National Music Day in Rome and a performance at the Mei Sun Indies Festival in Rimini, a showcase for indipendent bands from all over the country, few months away the Mei (Meeting of Indipendent Releases) 2002. "Ballads" is even broadcasted by "Sentieri Sonori" (Radio Ara, Luxembourg). In October 2002 Stefania Divertito from Metro free newspaper interview Six in a reportage about rock band from Rome. In 2003 they are back on stage playin gigs in Florence, Rome and Milan. At the end of 2003 Mardi Gras hire Simone De Sanctis as producer for their second ep. From january 2004 "Ballads" is on sale in Dublin, Road Records and Freebird Records.
