My DVD-ROM is running in PIO Mode. Usually its DMA but I have the Setting as "DMA if possible" but its staying in PIO. Why wont it go back to DMA? I have a hard drive on that IDE cable(temporary measure) and its running in DMA mode.

I asked the same thing not so long ago.
(Presuming the DVD is on the secondry IDE channel), just uninstall the secondary IDE channel, and restart windows.

    Worked for me anyway...

Solved the problem, thanks. PIO mode should get a barrel of petrol and a match ****ed at it
