there's an interview over on h2g2.com with Hammer & Tongs, the duo directing the Hitchhikers Guide film. It's worth a read... Makes me think they may actually be on to a good thing with this adaptation.

A good read there. I too was very worried that it'd get some ****ty dumbed down hollywood sfx treatment, but that review seems to make my fears unfounded. The people seem pretty passionate about it, and they say they're staying true to Adams' original ideas, so hopefully they won't go wrong.
