Secondary IDE devices not detected in Windows

    Ahhh, bit of a problem.
Thought one of you lads might be able to help me.
I have two dvd drives on my secondary IDE cable an Asus616 and a Pioneer 106D. I decided to flash them, the first (Pioneer) was successful. I tested it afterwards and it was fine. The second one (the Asus) didn't work too well. This was more than likely because I used an application called MtkWinFlash with a firmware binary and it crashed. Then Windows wouldn't detect the drives anymore. I figured I'd just reboot it, I'd had problems before when Windows couldn't access the CD drives and they would come up again on reboot. Actually, if I remember correctly, I took out my slave on the secondary IDE cable (the Pioneer) and rebooted. Then the Asus was detected in windows when I started up and everything looked okay. I tried to flash it again, it crashed again, but this time I couldn't get windows to detect the drives again. I tried just putting in the Asus and the Pioneer as the master drive on their own, but no luck. What's odd about this is, they display perfectly in the BIOS and when I got into Window's Add New Hardware feature, it has the device, but it has a red X over it. It says it's disabled with a 'Code 22' and when I try to enable it again, it just won't.

Any ideas how to fix this?

    Specs:
    Windows XP Pro SP1
    Abit motherboard
    Athlon XP1900
