    My rig is:

    p4 3ghz,
    radeon 9800 xt,
    160gig samsung spinpoint
    40gig seagate barracude
    1 gig pc2700 cl2.5 ram

All games since installing SIguardian and it reporting my hard drives are gonna die, are seriously running badly. They play but they skip every 5 or 6 steps in far cry when my guy moves and in every other game. It is really bugging me. And i do not know what to do to fix it.

Help? I have uninstalled SIGuardian and it hasnot stopped it. Reinstalled Windows, reinstalled the games. nothing works. I dont know what else to do. Its seriously bugging me.

did you ever think that your harddrive(s) may be dying? If a reinstall didn;t fix it, it wasn't SiGuardian. And SiGurdain has never done that to me, or anyone else i recommended it to.

But the software keeps changing every ****ing day. So i decided to uninstall it altogeather. I guarantee you they wont die.

My harddrove is running on udma100 and has 32 bit tranfer rate enabled.

    Any ideas?

Q: I just bought a new hard disk and immediately started monitoring it using SIGuardian. SIGuardian predicts nearest T.E.C. in the next three months! So, what must I do? Does this mean that I must change this HDD? If so, how can I contend this?

A: Fall of S.M.A.R.T. attributes (and prediction of nearest T.E.C.) is a normal condition for new hard disks. After some time (one-two weeks), the falling will stop and the T.E.C. goes farther into the future.

Direct quote from FAQ. I find that 1 month is the usual drop-off time for new drives. And if you are just installing SiGuardian, the time for it to settle in is usually about 1 week.

    I dunno :dunno:

You dont have one of those onboard graphics chips on your motherboard that needs disabling?

Have a look at the graphics card settings in the bios anyway.

No integrated graphics. Im seriously worried. because my gfx card is flash modded from a pro to xt. If it is the gfx card, i cant return it as it has the zalman heatsink and pipe on it. :dunno:

It'd be worth doing a scandisk and seeing if it detects bad sectors. If your harddrive is dying, then you will see bad sectors, but the scan itself might damage the harddrive.

But if the harddrive is grand, then you'll see no bad sectors, and no damage will be done.

I know when my drive was dying i experienced some random freezes in windows and related programs, not slowdowns like what you are getting, but total freezes. To be honest, if you reinstalled windows and it didnt help, then its hardware.

Did you install all the right drivers for your chipset (if neccessary)?

Not to mention that flashing your graphic card void your warranty. Have you try flashing your card back to the original bios just to check whether that is your problem or not. When I flashed my card to XT, I was getting loads of problem.

Fixed the problem but i dont have a clue how.

I had all drivers installed perfectly and latest ones all done. So i just reinstalled gfx drivers and no more problems. Pretty weird. The only solution I can come up with was the order I did them previously. I installed the ATI ones then the AGP ones when this time i just did the opposite and it worked.

So im real happy now. Far Cry looks uber slick again.

But my hard drives are still apparently gonna die soon. :dunno: who gives a ****? Lets hope SIguardian is wrong.
