doubt its anything you notice to be honest, just checked a couple of benchmarks, maybe 15-20 fps in ut2003 but its already around 150 so it won't matter.

i suppose its possible it could make the difference between more demanding games of farcry being playable at a specific resolution or something but i don't it would mean anything major.

Isn;t the only difference between the pro and XT just clock speed? So if you spent the difference in price on decent cooling, you could overclock your pro (and future cards maybe...) and get equal performance.

True mutant fruit but that would equal a stock xt not an overclocked xt.

The xt comes with a free copy of half life 2 which justifies paying the extra I think.

Get an artic vga cooler as well. They are only 8 or 9 euro and can drop the temp of the card by 30c and is no nosier than the stock fan.

I have my 9800xt's core which at stock is 411 at 459 and I'm going to push it past 500 when I get the vga cooler. Temp is the only thing stopping me at the mo.

If it did, it would be worth buying. But it only comes with a voucher. Which is a shame.

unless your in a massive hurry for a peformance increase i wouldn't suggest to anyone that they buy a graphics card now with all the new ones coming out in the next month. fair enough a X800 XT probably won't be in your budget but it may push the price of a 9800pro down to your price range and that would be a significant performance gain over the 9600
