how do tax credits work? it says on teh revenue website that a singles person cut off is 1500 but taht can't be per year surely? any1 got any idea?

Well thats your single person allowance I think and it is per year. However you may get other allowances which will add up to your total allowance. Divide this by 12 (as in 12 months). Thus you will pay PAYE on your gross monthly salary minues the allowance that you have just divided.
