    Hey,

Has anyone here gone to work in paris, or anywhere in france for that matter? I'm finishing college in, ohhh lets see, 22 days and hoping to go over to paris to do some work for the summer (till late september)

I'll have a Comp Sci. Degree (woooo! Fries with that?) by the time I get over there, but probably more usefully, I also have 7 years of bar + cocktail experience.

Any advice? warnings? old war stories? They'd be appreciated.

    Brian

All my friends have gone to work in Paris . If your woking in a bar there are plenty of places to go even Irish Bars . Well i think you have a choice of 19 Irish Bars to choose from . Working in an Office is alot harder tho . You will have to do about 2 to 3 Interviews tbefore you get the job . While there you do your 6 months probation but when they mean probation they really mean it . There is still a good chance they wont renew your contract . Also Holiday while your working for a company can not be taken while your on probation . You need to be working full time for a year after probation before any holidays can be taken .

This is what i am hearing from over there and i dont really like the sound of it . But there are plenty of irish people that will good reasons for going over .

Know mates that worked in Irish pubs in Paris...takes a hell of a lot of time
to find work..You will need a CV in French(with Photo) and a mobile phone
is essential...can take up to 4/5 weeks but you could be lucky...

You will be able to find work in Kitty O'Sheas or James Joyce - there is always
work going here...unfortunately they come with a snag... the boss it a complete and utter w**ker...I believe he makes Gordon Ramsay look like a slob....

Planet Hollywood on Champs Elysee take on Irish workers, u might try there.
