    With amazons online market place - say for purchasing 2nd hand cds.

    Is this the same as ebay?

    Well, unlike ebay, it's not an auction.

    You're buying from a private seller though, with amazon handling the payments etc (and taking a cut from the seller)

    Nope, you're given the buyers address etc and expected to send it on.

    The 2nd hand stuff is the only thing Amazon is good for. Got some great stuff 2nd hand there.
    There are Amazon auctions too (I think) but I've never used 'em.
