    Hi ya,

    First time posting in here.

Myself and three mates are thinking on going on a driving holiday across Europe. To be more specific, we plan going to Oslo by ferry through Newcastle in the UK, then to Stockholm, over to Helsinki where I have family and then back again a few days later. A ferry trip to St. Petersberg will also be included we hope..

Anyone have any experience with holidays like this?

    Thanks

Not quite. Done a few overland trips. You seem to be taking in an awful lot of water. :)

Well, I really like Scandanavia. I've been to Stockholm and a few places in Finland. Really recomend Helsinki and Stockholm. Stockholm is my favourite, the people are amazingly beautiful!! The city is built on 100's of islands and you can take a boat trip around these. It's over 4 years since I was there so I can't remember the names of places. There is the building where the Nobel awards are presented (except the peace award), thats worth a vist. It can be difficult to get into places around the city center in the evening if you are not really well dressed plus it's expensive. I remember paying 10 irish pound 4 years ago for a vodka and red bull and 7 irish pound for beers !!

I'm actually doing a trip of Scandanavia in the month June, so I can give you more details then if you haven't left. But my trip will be around the northen parts this time, although I will spend a few days in Helsinki and Stockholm.

Never been to any of those places, but some countries have all sorts of funky laws regarding taking a car into the country. Some countries will want you to pay a hefty deposit to ensure you're not planning on selling the car while you're there. It probably doesn't apply here, but it might be worth checking before you go.
