    Hi
i just got a pcmcia sata card for my laptop. if i insert the card and turn the laptop on it gets to the windows loading screen and freezes. if i insert it while the laptop is running it also freezes.
it is a silicon image sata card, the laptop is a dell inspiron 1100 and im running windows xp with service pack 1 on it.
    can anyone help?
ive tested the pcmcia slot with other cards and they work fine, ive also tested the card in another laptop and it works

have you tried safe mode? If you haven't boot it once for that laugh and then try normal startup afterwards

Not sure if this is relevant but I've seen on a number of PCMCIA cards that the driver must be installed before the card is inserted into the PCMCIA slot.

Try installing the drivers first and insert the card. It could be due power requirements. I know that Windows XP has problems with 5V pcmcia cards and some Dell laptops and Pcmcia chipsets. Also try Microsoft KB site and manufacturer's site for some info as there are some registry modes needed in order to get some cards working.:)

just wondering, .... why did you get a SATA pc-card? external hard drives are just as fast using USB2....
