College project? I presume it's a demo circuit to show how a low voltage (TTL) electronic circuit can be used to control higher voltage electronics?

This should probably be on the HW Tweaking board.
    (Sci / Tech > Electronics > HW Tweaking / Modding )

Get a data sheet for your relay to get the pinout and other information. The part number of the relay will probably be on it somewhere. Failing that, determining the functionality of a simple relay with a few wires and a power source shouldn't take that long.

Your relay probably won't be able to remember a signal so consider using D Flip flops as memory elements and trigger them using your switches. If bounce is an issue on the switch construct a debounce circuit.

Yea its for a project but nothing like that its much simpler. Basically it just needs to hold a led on when a magnet passes a reed switch and off when it passes the opposite switch. its a Double Pole Double Throw relay.

as i said i havnt got a clue how to wire these i have never needed to wire 1 before
