i'm happy with most about anything, including the few i've already seen (though there's a few there i've been avoiding). personal pref would be for the 20:30 showing of the station agent

Yep, i agree, Station Agent looks pretty interesting

Split this out from the other thread and stuck it to make it a bit clearer.

Of their list of films, I've only seen Shaun of the Dead and Passion of the Christ. So I'd be up for anything. Front-runners being The Station Agent and Kill Bill Volume 2.

So is it the 20.30 station agent ? if so i won't be able to make it, i'd be able to make the 18.15 but you know don't wanna put you fine people out so just i'll go with the flow and catch ya next time around.

i didnt know about the film board club until now, so i cant go to this one cause i have already made plans but i'm interested in going to others. i have one question, is it always at UGC or does it change every month?

Change, are you crazy ? ;) i'd imagine ppl would be open to change but in my own opinion there is no real point unless its something in the ifi that ugc no show

I'd be interested. Haven't much planned for tomorrow night (I think the laundry can be put on hold!) Just promise me there'll be no pseudo-intellecutual "analysis" of the cinematography/sound engineering after the movie and I'm in...

I was just wondering, i've never heard of boards film club and i was just wondering if it does change every month or few months like UCG.....then the Savoy. its not something i'm suggesting. just a question.

Hey couldn't make it this week, so I saw the flick at the weeknd - you should enjoy it. Next week I might be interested, if we can Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (something, I'm sure, we could all agree on).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 421 ✭✭SweetBirdOfTruth

to answer the two questions above. the first, is it just ugc. we don't know. currently it is, but no one knows how (if) this thing is going to work out.

the second - next week. currently we're only doing this every two weeks. there's a lot of interest in it but so far few bums on seats, so it's probly best to just stick with trying to get it right twice a month than having to worry about it once a week.

Ok, so we're agreed on the Station Agent? At 8.30?

Shall we say 7.30 for 7.45 outside the UGC then? That should leave time for a quick drink before the film, as there's unlikely to be much time after it.

    Latecomers / those who can't spot a Boards person, can call / text my mobile - 086 850 3866

ok kids, here's the deal. we've tried this twice now. the first time, three people showed up. the second time two people showed up. there's lots of you say 'yeah! great idea!' but there's not many bums on seats. and without bums on seats, this baby's dead. so come the next one - ugc on tuesday may 11th, film and time to be decided - please, if you say you're gonna be there, BE THERE. no more posts appologising you can't be there then or watch that film. no more posts complaininfg that this is too early or that is too late. and please no more posts saying you're coming and offering your jacket as a rallying point and then not showing up. either be there or don't. and if it's just the same two/three faces as the past two attempts to get this baby off the ground, then ... well whoever suggested the sugar club dvd night can pick up the ball and run with that instead, cause this one'll be dropped.

apps if this sounds a bit ranty, i'm not trying to get at people who didn't turn up, i've been there and done that and know the score. i understand and i'm actually sorry for you that your day worked out the way it did. genuinely. but, from my side of the coin, it is a bit depressing to stand outside the ugc for half an hour on a tuesday night waiting for people who aren't gonna show up.

one more try, and if it doesn't work ... well we tried. and trying and failing has gotta be better than failing to try (cliche alert!). depressing and all as it might be.

(and if we can't get you there by emotional blackmail ... :) )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,560 ✭✭✭Woden

i can't attend that one due to an exam the next day but if there is one scheduled two weeks from that i'll be there as i'll be a free man. many apologies with regards to the jacket but i decided to sit my exams rather then defer them.

    regards
