From here the mass killing of 350, 000 seals is nearly over for just this year's quota.

Does anyone find the seal cull outrageous considering the fact that all the fur which is skinned from the animals is sold as cloth items to european markets for profit ?

    Is it justified and humane?

Why do they kill them ? is it for envorment reasions or something ?....+ If their dead you might as well make use of them or else its just a huge wast tbh

I think the cull happens every year to help keep fish populations up. I don't think that justifies killing thousands of seals evey year, there should be a better way to control the population.

I would gleefully take a bat to any seal-clubbers head repeatedly!
Why dont they move them to ANtartica or something?
Surely they dont have to kill them?

    Sick B*stards!

In 2001, a report by an independent team of veterinarians who were invited by the International Fund for Animal Welfare to observe the hunt concluded that governmental regulations regarding humane killing were neither being respected nor enforced, and that the seal hunt failed to comply with Canada's basic animal welfare regulations. The veterinarians found a disturbing number of seals (as many as 40%) probably were skinned while alive and conscious.
    ...
In 2003, the Canadian government announced a new quota. It will allow sealers to kill 975,000 harp seals over the next three years.

Wow...I'm shocked and appalled myself; I don't think I've heard two peeps about seal killings at home in years. Especially with the whole "fail to comply.. with basic animal welfare regulations".

    :(
