Soccer Board - The way forward.

Right here is the new charter for the soccer board.

Soccer Board Charter - Read This First!

The Soccer Board is now a restricted access board. Your access here is a privilege and can be withdrawn if you do not adhere to the rules.

This board is for talking about anything even vaguely related to Soccer. It’s as simple as that really.

• Outbursts of personal abuse/racism etc, be it directed at other board members or at Sports people will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to edit/move/delete such posts as we see fit. Occasions of personal abuse against another board member will result in a one week ban and if persistent a permanent ban. If a permanent ban occurs and if the user banned was sponsored by existing soccer board members they will be banned for a month. If they have a second recommended member banned then they will be banned permanently as well.
The basic rule is keeping it civil; you can have friendly banter without resorting to personal abuse.

• Posts relating to other sports should be directed to the specific relevant board or if one doesn’t exist, the Sport board.

• No posting of any scores in the subject line. Such posts will be deleted as soon as they are seen. Remember some people still record matches to watch later. Also please user a spoiler tag to indicate the thread contains scores

.

• Off topic posts will be edited, closed or moved to the Recycle Bin without warning.
• No commercial posts unless they are sanctioned by the admins. Posts will be removed and users banned if these occur.
• If you are considered a disruptive influence by the moderators or the admins your access to this board will be removed.

If you have any questions on these rules please Private Message the moderators.

New Users
New users will have to apply to gain access to the board in a sub forum under the soccer forum. They will have to be members of boards.ie for 1 month and have 2 existing soccer board members who have been registered members of boards.ie for at least 6 months vouch for them.
Please be careful in whom you vouch for, if they cause trouble and are banned then you will be banned as well. This restriction lasts for the first 3 months of their membership of the board.

Here is the mechanism for new applications to access the soccer board.

Soccer Access Application

Due to issues in the past in the Soccer forum new users have to apply for access to post on the forum.

• Please post your application to the soccer board on the New Users Sub forum in Soccer.

• Have your sponsors, who must be members of boards.ie for 6 months and already have access to the soccer forum post endorsements of your application.

• This forum will be reviewed on a regular basis and successful applicants will be given access to the Soccer forum.

This forum should only contain requests for access to the soccer board. All other posts will be moved to the recycle bin and action maybe taken against the members who post these threads.

Please Note:
For existing Soccer Board members who are sponsoring someone bear in mind if that person is banned permanently within 3 months of being granted membership you will be banned for a month. If a second user you nominated is banned then you will be banned permanently. Be sure of the person you nominate.

If someone who has nominated users is banned, the nominated users will not lose their membership.

The final decision on access to the soccer board lies with the Moderators and Admistrators.

The Soccer forum is due to open again tomorrow afternoon providing everything runs smoothly. I will post here once I get the nod that it is back from the admins.

I would like to thank Dev & ecksor for all the help they have given me and the other soccer mods in sorting this out. At the next boards beer we should all ensure that their hands don't go near their pockets for drinks. Hell maybe we should all take them out for some Thai food

As has already been said, we can and will be updating that list as the days go on and we notice that we have missed some peeps. Worry not if you are not on the original list, more importantly is that you are not on the Muplist.

BTW gandalf should be included on the list of those that will not have to reach into his pockets at the next beers. He has worked v hard and taken alot of crap over the last while and this last week especially he has been Trojan-Like (not you Al) in his work on getting the board back together.

As for what time it will re-open, you will know it's open when you have a new asterisk in your subbed list for soccer. IF you do not have soccer subbed, well then you should

I see i aint on the list but i will gladly apply as i already see two boards friends who will i am sure will vouch for me.I dont post that much really only the odd liverpool post and keane posts.

I hope the vouch system doesnt lead to a bunch of newbie mass pming poeple to vouch for them.

btw anyone who is not on the initial list and feels they should be please post on this thread. The list is mainly made up of people who have contributed to soccer recently or we know have made contributions in the past. Obviously we have missed people who have contributed to soccer in the past. So reply to this thread if you feel you should have access from the off and we'll do our best to make sure you have.

Well you should vouch for someone unless you are sure that they will not cause trouble. I will discuss this with the other mods but I really don't want people to take vouching for someone else lightly.

On another note, any person thats found to be mass pming people to gain access to this board will not be given access and I am sure the admins will not be pleased with such actions either.

Also the access list has been updated with the couple of names that have come up here. All on the list are enabled to post once the forum is unlocked tomorrow.

Hi,
I'm almost sure I'm opening myself up for a big fat 'denied' here but I'm gonna ask anyway. May I be unbanned from the soccer board?

To summarise, since I was banned all of 11 months ago I haven't had any major urge to get my name back on the board due to the general standard of bickering and heavy-handedness that existed and fact of the matter is I deliberately got myself banned because I'd had enough of it and felt like going out on a bang.

The recent news of general meltdown of the soccerboard didn't surprise me in the slightest as it had been getting worse and worse and more agressive (on all sides) the entire time I was there and clearly had got even worse after I'd left to lead to this. I reckoned that be the case and as such never sought readmission - in fact never envisioned myself EVER seeking readmission so the banning suited me quite well.

However since this recent shutdown of soccer1 and anticipated re-opening of soccer2 I have honestly been impressed with the reaction from the organisers and the GENUINE footy fans here and I envision that when this board is reopened it won't be the agressive, disrespectful and generally unpleasant place soccer1 was before and instead will be a genuine success and a board that will consign the last board to bad memories. As such I'd like in this time round and I'm not ashamed to come here and humbly ask for that right either.

The reasons I think you should consider me for unbanning are as follows:
1. At the time I apologised to Gandalf for the abusive behavior on my part.

2. I was banned for issues with the standard of modding (leads on in point '3') and not for the 'my team is better than your team so f-off loser' rudeness that (I understand?) lead to the eventual downfall of soccer1.

3. I finally accept that whilst the modding on soccer1 was IMHO heavy handed it was a neccesary evil.

4. I have been banned for nearly a year now without ever once (until now) asking to be unbanned - surely a sign that I am not just desperate to get back in there and start causing trouble again?

5. My behavior on the other boards since my banning has been (in my own opinion) congenial, good humoured, respectful and (whenever possible) helpful to other members. I intend to continue this behaviour in soccer2 too if admitted.

6. I actually do have an excellent knowledge of the game and feel I have an educated opinion to share with the group.

7. Finally, the fact in itself that by typing all this here I'm opening myself for swift rejection on a public forum shows the sincerity of my request and my commitment to (pardon the pun) 'stay onside' if admitted.

Anyway, thanks for reading this and no hard feelings whatever your final decision may be.

Either way this is a perfect example of people putting too little context into their internet writings. I just presumed you were expressing anger at xor and using your sig to have a swipe at him... the real reason was a lot more complex then Occam's Razor would have lead one to believe...

What has someones sig got to do with weather or not they should have access to a soccer forum? You find it offencive then ban people from the site. Don't have two standards about the issue at hand.
