I recently saw this film and thought it was pretty good.
It's a very powerful movie and it really makes you hate Fr. John. Very sad at the end where the boy gets beaten to death:( I can't believe those sort of reformatory schools kept going until the late 80's

So what are your views on the film?

I saw this film when it was out in the cinema. I quite liked it, very moving. Made me cringe quite a few times, and had me almost in tears of anger at parts. (I know, tears of anger, WTF?) Quite good, although leave it up to my m8 billy to pick a movie about child abuse.... :dunno:

    god film definately

watched it last night, and have to agree with you about the tears of anger thing. very powerful stuff.

as for the 'happening until the late 80s' thing, not really that surprising considering the first rape case in ireland was only 12 years ago. it took a long time for ireland to catch up with the rest of the world as far as human rights go. we seem to be over compensating though now in some areas. although better that than how it was.
