Climbing Walls

    CAN ANYONE TELL ME ARE THEIR ANY BIG COSTS IN GETTING STARTED IN WALL CLIMING, YA KNOW FOR EQUIPMENT AND ALL THAT?

    Depends on where you climb. You'll need a harness, climbing shoes (runners will do for the first few times), chalk bag, HMS Karabiner and belay device to top rop at a climbing wall which is what you'll be doing. That will probably set you back about €200 approx to buy. Check with you local climbing wall though as you'll probably be able to hire some if not all of these.

    Oh, and STOP SHOUTING AT EVERYBODY :D

    Torlac I see your based in cork. The mardyke arena www.mardykearena.com give you any gear you need i.e harness, screwgate, belay device and rope you just have to join €200 p.a or pay as you which ain't cheep €10.

    Your only problem is finding someone to show you the ropes. Your best bet is to get in there early in the day and ask one of the supervisors to belay for you and show you how to belay e.t.c

    Oh and if your buying gear go to both hillwakers and maher sports. I find that hillwalkers are generally better to do deal with.
