Worst Driver In F1

Schumacher said he wouldn't be able to win in a Minardi in modern F1, but do you think Zsolt would win in a Ferrari? Methinks he'd suck no matter what he's driving, though Bruni looks like he'll develop into a useful driver.

So who do you think is the least good driver in F1 today?

I've chosen those who've had apalling starts to this season only, so no Ralph Firman :D

Who sucks like a Nilfisk and should be racing in nascar? 18 votes

So it is just for this season...can we not add Eddie Irvine in for the fun of it to see how he rates??

Zsolt is terrible. As Martin Brundle said during Australian GP Qualifying (I think) "That man shouldn't be allowed to drive a road car, nevermind one of these machines!"

It's between Baumgartner and Pantano. I think Klien will be very good, given the chance to mature a bit, and Da Matta isn't the worst on the grid by far.
Why isn't Ralf Schumacher on the list, Doctor J? :) Considering the amount of bitching and moaning about wages and his team-mate and everthing else that he's done all season, and also considering the good car he has to drive I think he's one of the worst on the grid this year!

baumgartners bad pantano`s not much better. Klien needs time to prove himself. i was shocked to see da matta on the list i think he is good prospect. ok hes probably not a world champion but hes done enough to justify his place on the grid

'Twas between Ralf and Da Matta for the last spot on my shyt grid ;)

I dunno, Da Matta just looks out of his depth at F1 level, whereas Ralf looks good sometimes (and dreadful the rest of the time), Da Matta is consistently anonymous, especially when racing.

It's true, Da Matta hasn't excelled since he's been driving for Toyota but neither has Panis. Maybe they just need another season or so as a team to improve. Look at how long it took BAR and is still taking Jaguar to perform consistently well- maybe Toyota will improve in leaps and bounds in the next few seasons. They've certainly got the budget behind them- I heard they were in negotiations with Ralf about a 3 year contract and collossal wage figures were quoted. They must be mad!!

Yeah, can't understand that one. Ralf just hasn't got the consistency needed. The Toyota has been bad, but at least Panis puts on a good show, you know he's trying. Da Matta just looks lost out there. They should give Justin Wilson a chance, instead of blowing a load of money in wages that they could spend on the car. It took BAR a few years to figure this out, and now look at them.

Sorry, I shouldn't be slagging off the old guy, considering he'll be out to pasture by the end of this season!! :D

We'll see about that!! It'll be OP and R.Schu at Toyota next year...

Nah, I think Olivier won't be here next season. They'll probably keep Da Matta or rope in another Brazilian/South American. That's the market they're aiming for :dunno:

I like the idea of Wilson in a Toyota, he'd be great. Toyota could well afford to take him n, they don't need a pay driver. Or they may go for Pizzonia, he's South American isn't he?

According to F1Racing Wilson is gone to drive Champ Cars in the states and is quite happy to stay there and make a career. Interesting. I'd say he's sore over not getting the Jaguar drive this year, it's a pity he's not coming back.

Indeed. it goes to show just how dodgy F1 is when someone of his standard (a proven champion in pretty much all the categories he's raced in) can't get a seat when Pantano, Baumgartner, etc etc have one. He did great things in the Minardi and he was just beginning to get going in the Jag.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,518 ✭✭✭Kalina

Yeah but unfortumately money talks and it's even more apparent in the past couple of seasons. It's a pity some of the team bosses don't see how dedicated Wilson was to getting into F1. That, combined with his good performance in the Minardi, should have earned him a decent mid-field seat for this year. Everyone in your poll, with the exception of Klien maybe, should be off the grid leaving seats open for Wilson, McNish and Wurz.

I dunno about Klien, he's qualifying 1-2sec slower than Webber. He might develop, he should've been given a year as test driver or something. He doesn't look ready to me (see Felipe Massa) ;)

a man who should be given another crack at racing is williams test driver marc gene as he constantly matches montoyas times in testing

Yeah, and he doesn't seem to have the ego that both Montoya and Ralf have!

Definitely Baumgartner. He is pure crap. Bruni is not too bad. Klien is ok. But definitely baumgartner is muck.

Well in fairness Minardi always operated or tried to operate thuswise, "put a decent driver in one car (ie Alonso) and some rich playboy who'll pay them to let them drive " (ie Gaston Mazzacane [remember that tool?])

Sometimes it paid off- I mean look @ Alonso today like- or then sometimes it's just a case of you get what you pay for. What's the story with ole tree farmer anyways? Where the hell's he from and is he one of those money men on a "you let me drive fast vruum vruums and I'll buy you a set of spare tires" deals?

    Who knows who cares.
Still, despite a decent performance this weekend, and a rather unlucky engine blowout I got to give my award to Sato out of pure hatred for the bastard.

I don't think Ralf's that bad a driver, he's just a peavish bastard. Too headstrong, can be interesting sometimes but utterly stupid a lot of the time.
