i have these files i downloaded from www.weezer.com of a live concert and i was wondering is there a program that will simply take the audio from the mpg file and make it into a mp3 format so i can listen to them on my iPod?

Get TMPGENC. Then load the mpg into it.

Then in the middle bottem, yo should see a little box entitled Stream Type. Choose "ES Audio Only". Then hit settings, and choose "Linear PCM" i.e. wav. Then click on that wonderful start button. And your done.

Then just encode that wav into mp3 with whatever encoder you usually use. Your iTunes probably does it automatically on transfer if you want.

TMPGEnc will do this - choose Mpeg Tools from the file menu, then Demultiplex (not Simple Demultiplex), select the input MPEG file, double-click on the Audio track and you'll be prompted to save it in MP2 format.

The iPod may play MP2s directly, otherwise use WinAmp or similar to convert it to .wav, then re-encode it as MP3.
