    Hey All....
Saw this film over the wknd, completely by accident, thought it was something else altogether...But oh my god..its totally shockin stuff...All about life in a British borstal round the end of the 70s, it follws 3 guys in particular. still havent decided whether its actually good or just plain shocking...maybe just so violent and graphic for the sake of it...or maybe they did a really good acurate job of portraying the brutallity and couldnt have left out any of it...just been having a quick search on the net for reviews and articles and stuff...
Anyone seen it or got any comments?

It is very good, but yeah it certainly is 'gritty' :)

Some scenes are just really horribly shocking
the rape and the following response of the victim
are two that spring to mind.

It stars a young Ray Winstone for anyone interested.

    Now; WHERE'S YOUR TOOL?!

That is a great film, It was made notorios because of the gang rape scene, But I think the scene where the main character knocks out his opponent with a sock full of snooker balls is classic.

it is a great show, lots of great scenes, great script and the acting is good too...all unknown actors at the time but u can recognise some of them from UK soaps and stuff....

surprising to see such good acting really...

theres no getting away from the fact that its bleak and depressing though, and the abrupt end just adds to the feeling of hopelessness.

It's only 8€ in Virgin, HMV etc. anyway.

I remember in 5th year our religion teacher showed us this film. Was a bit on the graphic alright. Our teacher was previously the chaplain at Mountjoy and he said it was quite an accurate portrayal of live on the inside.
Always thought he showed it to us to put us off the ol' a**e rapeing :)
