So this week on American Idol, Quentin Tarantino is the guest judge for Movie Night when the remaining contestants sing songs from their favourite movies.
    It'll be on TV3 this Thursday,April 15 @ 8:30pm
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Oscar-winning filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is about to take on John Stevens and Jon Peter Lewis and FOX may want to institute a five-second delay. The gleefully profane writer-director (and semi-actor) will become just about the greatest guest judge ever in life when Tuesday night's (April 13) "American Idol" takes on Movie Theme Night.
He'll join Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell on the judging panel as the remaining eight Finalists perform songs from their favorite movies. Last season's Movie Night (with ubiquitous "Idol" favorite Gladys Knight as guest judge) featured highlights like Ruben Studdard's rendition of "A Whole New World" (prompting Knight to dub him the Velvet Teddybear).

    Should be funny :p
Is anyone actually watching the show? Jon & John need to go home ASAP!! They're both terrible! Hope Quentin rips into them :D

I watched it last week. Very much a mixed bag - there's some real talent in there as well as some real crud (relatively speaking). I don't know how much they're practising but there was certainly an element of a few people starting out with a very high standard and losing their way half way through the song. George Huff was excellent though. Took the smart road - sing a lesser known song that people aren't too familiar with and sing it well. The two lads singing Rocket Man and Crocodile Rock (I assume these are Jon and John) weren't too good. The chap singing Crocodile Rock made a big error in picking that one, partly because it didn't suit his voice and partly because he's got no stage presence whatever. The performance of Circle of Life sounded exactly like the version sung by Debbie Davis on the French version of the Lion King (though in a different language obviously - the French version was titled L'histoire de la vie) so passed muster fairly easily. The girl voted off (singing Goodbye Yellow Brick Road)solidly deserved it. Couldn't hold the notes (doing a Mariah Carey), got the words wrong, changed key half way through. Terrible. I'd have voted off Crocodile Rock boy first though. Actually scratch that - if anyone had sung Candle in the Wind with the 1996 words, I'd happily have shot them.

I'm glad Cowell is on it (obviously he's on it because of his financial interest but I'm glad he's on it regardless). Abdul and Jackson tend to encourage a little too much at times so it's nice having at least one cynic there.

Yeah yer spot on with who John & Jon are. They both suck big time.
Camille, who sang 'Yellow Brick Road' deserved to go for a while now, yet I felt that both Jon & John were actually worse than her last week. I don't like George's voice. I can hear that he's singing in tune & all the rest, but I don't like the tone of it. He's easily the best guy still there though.
I thought Jennifer, who sang 'Circle of Life' was actually quite good. She toned down her gospelness (hard to believe but it was actually more subdued that weeks past).
One Elton song I was hoping they didn't attempt was 'Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters'. Thankfully nobody sang it *phew*
My fav would have to be Diana DeGarmo, who Simon seems to hate altogether. He refused to even comment on her last week!

Some of them started off very strong in the first week of the finals. Nobody has mainted a steady quality imo.I'd happily see Diana,LaToya, Jasmine or Jennifer win(in that order). Still early days yet though.

    Yeah he was the Bomb.

I though Manilow was a lot better. last week.

Is it just me or does anyone else now think that this guy writes some pretty decent songs.

He does (or did). In the seventies, everyone was buying Manilow records and no-one would admit to it, in the late eighties, no-one was buying them but everyone was happy to admit to it. I've never liked Mandy (except when Homer Simpson is singing Mindy) but some of his other stuff is rather good. And some is crud.
