He came across as a bit of a twit on the ad, glad he didn't lose all his cash though cos he'd feel like a right idiot if he had!!

I missed the first half hour of the show on Sunday, why did the first hotel he had organised pull out of the deal? It was a bit of an anti-climax in the end:dunno:

I Actually used to work with the guy in the UK in the mid 90s, and when i seen him in the paper during the week i said i had to watch the prog. When watching i seen that everyone else who appeared in the programme...I KNEW From TV Industry in UK too! The whole gang used to work in l!ve tv(Cable channel in the UK). Waited to see credits to see if i knew any of the tecchie staff but did not. still think that he was involved with the Production side of things too though.

He was a pro gambler back then, and he comes from a middle class family for real. Maybe he made a lot of money since 96' but as far as i know the house he sold was same as back then, and he was given the rolex at an awards cermony for the tv industry. So he was loaded, but not if ya know what i mean!

He's on the American TV interview circuit at the moment, so that must be worth a few quid to him...
No doubt, the book, and the sky serialisation will follow soon.

His net worth came to around £60,000 and he got a sponsorship deal from BlueSquare Bookies to change his name for 3 months which brought his total money to around £75,000. Hardly loaded. He had a clapped out old Beemer and he was renting. Glad he won though. Would have been a sickner to lose. Does anyone know why the Hard Rock Hotel pulled out of the deal? Missed the start of the show on Sunday.

Even if he did lose, hes making loads of money from TV appearances, interviews etc..
He knew it wouldnt be the end of the world if he lost.

To answer my own question for anyone else who missed the first part of the show on sunday. He couldnt show the bet live because the Nevada Gaming Commission ruled that way and the Hard Rock Hotel pulled out because they got cold feet and started worrying about how much money they could lose. Sky had to rush around Vegas on Saturday to try to find another casino who would take the bet.

Bet the Hard Rock are sick they pulled out now. There has been loads of publicity now for the casino that took the bet and like the manager said on the show, you can't buy that kind of publicity.

he may have won but he only doubled his money and he raised some of the stake by selling everything he owned - much of it for a pittance.

He'll have to replace a lot of that stuff now and it will cost him most of his winnings - eg he sold his mountain bike for £350 having bought it for £1200 a year before. He would have been better off just gambling with his poker winnings.

Was funny seeing the guy offering him the sponsership deal cave so fast.

The deal started out at a year, it was down to 3 months within 2 minutes.

he's got to be an idiot to do it anyway. lok at the stuff he was selling. he sat down and figured all his stuff was worth x amount, but by the time he sold most of it for less than half it's value he's left with less than half of x which means even if he doubles his cash he's only back to where he started.

just a publicity stunt to make money off other tv companies if you ask me. he's not made money off the gamble even though he won, just money off sky one, blue square and tv stuff since.

oh, and one of his mates just happened to be ashley hames from bravo's sin cities (another L!ve tv production if i'm not mistaken. it's all a thinly veiled scam.
