If you have sex on top of a mountain more than 5280 feet above sea level, does that make you a member of the mile high club, or does the sex have to be on an airplane....???

    Good question!

    [FROM A DODGY WEBPAGE]

For some, the Mile High Club refers to having had sex on a commercial airplane while in flight. Others claim that all that matters is your altitude. An even smaller group, almost all pilots, claim that in order for you to be a member you must be at the controls of the plane while having sex.

Yes, my post has not helped answer the question.

Then wouldn't it be the "Not on the Ground" Club as opposed to the "Mile High" Club?

im sorry, with the ****ing size of those toilets the sex must just be for the ability to say you've done it. i cant imagine it being pleasurable, or even comfortable. mmmm there's a tap digging into my back!

    Ask that question in Denver.
But if you are on a boat on the ocean - the average depth of the sea - it's two miles above solid ground.

Still rather belong to this than the caterpiller club.

If I remember from years ago... Its a person who's life has been saved by a parachute. i.e. Plane stalls and is going to crash and you MUST bail out and parachute saves you. No skydiving doesnt count as its a voluntary jump, well in most cases anyway.

Thats the only story I know of the caterpillar club

Google goes deeper than me I now see http://www.caterpillarclub.org/irvin/irvin.htm

Surely the "Mile High" must just pertain to sex in a plane... If one was to take the meaning literally there must be loads of people claiming "Mile High" membership when not actually sure if the altitude of the plane was sufficient for them to qualify... Planes (to my knowledge) do NOT have windows OR altimeters in the toilet!
If we then say The Mile High club is for "people who have had sex while off the ground OR at an altitude of over 5280 feet" we leave ourselves open to paragliders wanting membership... In Corfu, when I lived there, loads of paraglide places advertised "Bang in the air" for tandem paraglides...
Paragliding is of course parachute gliding behind a speed boat... Off the ground per se - but still attached to the boat (in itself several meters above solid ground as Capt'n Midnight pointed out...)
Do we now exclude these people as they were connected to the ground? Making our previous statement obsolete and necessitating a change to "people who have had sex while off the ground AND completely unconnected to anything ON the ground or on water OR at an altitude of over 5280 feet". This to me is a bit unwieldy... I say leave it to those fortunate few who have done it in a plane in flight...

I would assume it refers to sex in a plane only.
There is a 10 meter club for divers (sex at or below 10m), but in reality you could have sex at 10m below sea level without being submerged, in which case you couldn't really say you were a member.

    Thats my 2 cents

We (as an ex-air staff personage) used to count it as people who had sex while the plane was in flight, usally due to the seatbelt restrictions, people could only actually go to the toilets when the plane had leveled out above the 10,000 feet mark (or crusing altitude).

As a member I am sure that paragliding and plataues above 5,280 feet do not count.
The discomfort of the size of most airline cubicals can be overturned with a bit of imagination and a silm airhostess (or boss).
