quick bit of background on this first. I'm an IT contractor working for a big telecoms company rolling out new PC's to all their employee's, and we recently moved from one site to another to continue the project. so anyway, we've been working from 4pm to 12 so we don't disturb the users, and aside from the odd minor problems it's been going pretty well.

anyway, first day on the job, me and the other two guys doing the rollout eventually find our way to the very anonymous looking building to get on with the job in hand. about 7pm we get to a point where we're waiting for stuff to happen, so we decide to nip out for some dinner. i just got a roll and came straight back, but one of the guys went for a burger and came back on his own. inside the front door he starts speaking to a security guard who wants to know when we'll be done.

when he hears 12 o'clock he tells my co-worker that he'll have to set the alarm and lock up, giving him the codes and showing him exactly how to work everything security releated, even kindly writing the codes etc. down for him on a post-it.

so after this little charade he comes up in the lift to the floor we're on, and can't find our office, until he glances out of the window to see me and the other guy in the building next door getting on with our work.

the penny drops, and he quietly comes back out of the building he's in (giggling profusely to himself) and tells us all about it.

hard to believe that the security guard could be that thick as to not question him on anything and then to open the card swipe door and let him in. mad.

anyway, just wanted to share that with you all. sorry if it didn't come out well on screen, but it really was funny. maybe you had to be there.

Tbh, I don't blame him, I do security in truck parks, I never question lads (agency drivers) that come into the office looking for keys. Anyone could walk in, ask for the keys to a wagon, get them from me, and drive off. Agency drivers don't wear a uniform of the haulage company.
