    Hey,
Has anybody here used Ooverclockers.co.uk before? I've been trying to place a £700 order for the past two days - I need to find out about VAT rates first. They don't answer their phones, don't reply to e-mails and just give the impression of zero customer service. Anybody else have these experiences?

There are generally ok. But they are very busy and support and sales response times isn't brilliant. Returns can be troublesome on occasions.

I just got a respons to the e-mail i sent 2 days ago, placed the order, hope i dont regret it. I ordered the same thing with amazon.co.uk yesterday, with a 6 week lead time. I'll go crazy if anything goes wrong with this order after cancelling the Amzon one...

ive used them several times and had no problems with them other than one time a credit card transaction was turned down. no reply to emails, eventually rang em(expensive) and the guy couldnt have been more helpful, was down to me keying in a digit wrong.

although i know a few people whove had to return things to em. can get a bit problematic and drawn out.

Do they still charge a flat rate shipping charge to here?
I've been looking around their site and cannot find the shipping costs anywhere, probably my fault though :).

They charge £22 (+VAT) shipping to Ireland so you'd need to be buying a lot to justify it.

Thanks, I was thinking that's the cost.
I'm considering getting a Pioneer DVR-107 DVD burner, and that's the best place I've found so far. But the €22 might be a bit too much just for postage.

    No, £22 + VAT != €22

    £22 + VAT = £26 = €40 ish (after the bank takes their cut)

I meant £22 in my post above, the € was a typo.

I ordered a £352 ViewSonic monitor, and a 120mm fan grill. Total includding shipping came to about £375, which seems a little steep, but I can't buy the monitor here. I put in the order at around 11am this morning, got a "your order is in our warehouse ready to be despatched" e-mail at about 4pm. Hopefully I should have it by Tuesday. Overall, their prices are pretty average - just be sure to take the "INCL VAT" price, and the £22 shipping is a little steep. Plus they use Parcelforce, which I think is GLS?

At lower weights which would include a DVD drive they use Royal mail at £17.33(about €26.00). Once the weight builds they will use Parcelforce at £25.85 (about €39) inc VAT.

Don't find them too bad to deal with and have always had quick replies to queries (maybe I've just been lucky)

Shipping is fairly steep, but if you cant get it in ireland, then you dont really have much choice.

    Frank Grimes:
An OEM 107 for £70 Stg including Vat
    http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/Hardware_Section__.html

The shipping from blank disk shop to Ireland is high but it'll be lower than £22+Vat Stg. Also, their media prices are generally very good.

I've bought from them twice now with big orders (a few friends) to keep the shipping down. They're excellent to deal with.

I'll definetly report back when it arrives. I've seen a lot of good reviews about it. It's over my budget, but it seemed like the best good(ish) value monitor around

i've ordered a motherboard and a 9800pro of them and have had no real problems. Admitedly i get things sent to my girlfriend in Liverpool and then collect the stuff when i'm over. They deliver next day within England, so i coincide my trips over with ordering stuff from them.

Mind you, the 9800pro was the oem special from last week and it was sent in an antistatic bag within a flimsey jiffy bag....not hugely impressed by that packaging!!

I ordered a 9800Pro from them too, I couldn't resist that offer :). I normally get everything from Komplett, just €9.99 (incl VAT) for delivery from A'dam, and that includes midi-tower cases!

    EDIT:
This week's OCUK offer looks good if you've room for it. 19" flat screen CRT, supports 1600x1200 for £130

leeroybrown, thanks for the link - I'd been looking at their site before, had forgotten all about them.

OCuk are ok but orders can be delayed, there forums are handy once in awhile but otherwise there "ok"

Blankdiscshop.co.uk are good also, never had any problems with them, fast enough delivery and nice selection of media and writers at cheap prices :D

Yeah, I think I'll get the burner from them, postage costs are reasonable enough too.
How long have you had to wait for stuff to arrive from them?

Quarryman - the monitor just arrived an hour ago, and so far so good. The colours are a little washed out, but I think that just needs a little tweaking, and the resolutions great. Haven't tried any games yet (mainly because I dont have any...), but the quality seems pretty good. It does take a bit of getting used to, but the added desk space is great. The rotation thing is really handy too for when you're reading long forums, word documents, etc, really makes a huge difference. Overall, I'm happy with it, even though I've only had it for an hour. Now... to find somewhere to stash my old 17" Dell CRT...

PS: No dead pixels, obviously that's going to differ from one screen to the next, so i suppose I'm just lucky. There is a slight "pushed in" effect though - it looks like the monitor is curving inwards towards the centre - maybe its just my eyes adjusting?

Yeh if you use a curved CRT, and then look at a flat panel, it looks fisheyed. When I look at a curved CRT now it looks too wierd, everything is curved at the edges :D

Ah well. The honeymoon is over and I've had two deliveries go walkabouts within the last few weeks, with overclockers blaming Parcelforce and Parcelforce saying the parcel references do not exist and they never collected them. Customer service has been of the 'can't be arsed' variety.

BTW if your parcel is lost the only one who suffers is you. Overclockers will wait 15 days after the parcel is shipped before they put in a claim on Parcelforce. This will take a week to sort out, following which Overclockers re-ship your order. None of this appears to happen automatically, as Customer Service have told me I should chase it up every few days (because it seems to be beyond them to do it themselves).

    That sucks big time.....

I've had to reorder a graphics card from them after RMAing a dead one....supposidly on it's way but perhaps i shouldn't hold my breath....
