I bought 2 CDs totaly on impulse last weekend, and i have to say, they are 2 of the best albums ive heard in ages.

    CD1 - Maroon 5 - Songs about Jane.

I heard their single "Harder to breathe" on MTV, and liked it. Kinda dissapointed that theres no other songs like that on the CD, but there is a very good mix of songs, acoustic-y catch-y rock, with alot of it piano/keyboard driven. Great CD, their new single "This Love" is a very catch-y tune.

CD2 - Jesse Malin - The Fine Art of Self Destruction.

On recommendation of the lead singer of my favourite band. This CD is very very good, more acoustic rock mainly, with Ryan Adams playing lead guitar on a few songs. Not so mucth catchy tunes, more kinda meaningful and emotional rock. Kinda ctachy at the same time though. Highlights are "Brooklyn" and "Downliner". Ryan Adams produced it, and did some guitar/back vocals too.

Anyone else heard these? Any other CDs worth buying these days?

I bought the Jesse Malin album when it came out. I agree, it's quite good. I haven't listened to it in a while though.

I bought Maroon 5's Album while in America. Very good. Highly recommend. I based my purchase on their single, This Love, but there are better songs on the album. Some of their stuff seems to take influence from the likes of Pearl Jam and Santana. The lead singer has a cool voice.

    hi,
just thought i'd warm you about one album NOT to buy ( since we are on the topic of impulse buys ;)) DO NOT GET blot by Einherjer ( the whole album is a rehash of the same riff FFS!)
well that's my piece done. if you want to get a truly beautiful album ( almost blackwater park-esque ) go and get Novembre's Novembrine Waltz. it's amazine.

While I'd certainly concur with you on Novembrine Waltz being amazing (The Kate Bush cover and everything is well mad) and I would thoroughly recomend it to anyone...

But Blot is certainly not a rehash of the same riff!
It's a great album, and Einherjer are a great band.

PS. Did you see Novembre supporting Opeth and Katatonia in 2001!?!
    Awesome gig altogether.
