Been on roaccutane for 3 weeks now side affects I have now are dry lips and allways tired.I think i have a flu/chest infecton has I have a really nasty cough .A lad that I live with used to row and said he got chest infectons alot and that they run you down and make you pure tired so is this normall for a chest infection or a side affect of roaccutane.I also used to have a huge appitite and work out in the gym 3/4 times a week and eat EVERYTHING but went today only lasted 45 mins had to go home to tired and I got up at 1 today but went to bed at 11 last night .I can deal with the side affects easy enough but if its a chest infecton or flu can I take any thing for it I am on 40 mg of roaccutane (14 stone 6'2)

Ance is only bad on my chest was bad enough but latly got worse can accpect that it gets worse before it gets better but have long before i see any good progress

Would go to the derm but at 100 yoyos a pop i leave it off till i have to go.

There's been a few topics on roaccutane here before, search back through this forum and there should be a lot of info there about it. Fraid I don't know much about it myself but hope this helps:)

Was on it 70mg i think. Yeah had dry lips and nose but that was it. Think tiredness is a possible side effect.

Amazing stuff that roaccutane, 4 months on after my 8 week dose and im still spot free!!.

for me it worked wonders... was lurking about the almighty grade 6 in acne terms, and all on the blasted face. it was a pain in my progressive backside. i did all the other treatments before going on roaccutane, and it's mighty fine stuff. side effects were nasty - white pasty face (was living in africa at the time, more noticable), dry lips... to the extent that if i smiled i bled, really soft skin all over my body - my mother once commented that my hands looked as though I'd never worked a day in my life (self-love is work dammit...). no chest infections on my side though - i had the odd nose bleed, and as an avid golfer it was nightmarish... the softhands meant i was guarenteed at least 3 blisters of a round of 9 holes.

BUT - i finished my treatment aged 17, i'm now 23 and only get the odd spot in times of stress. otherwise i'm the walking embodiement of facial scrub adverts everywhere... no facial scarring either. and it's effects were quite quick for me, i saw a obvious difference after 2 months. but as doctors everywhere will insist: everyone's different.

the previous poster, u are one of the lucky ones
i was on roaccutane twice and it nearly ruined me, my acne is gone now, im 25 now but i have mild scarring now due to the acne i got when i was on roaccutane, just looking after your while on roaccutane mate and drink plenty of water as u prob know, if u have any probs call your dermotologist, personally i dont have time for them as i spent the last 10 years battling acne and its really tough.all the best with it, hope it works for u.

You really should see a derm before you start taking roaccutane. It's an extremely powerful drug that should only be prescribed when absolutely necessary.

I think everyone gets the dry lips/skin thing - just make sure you always have lipbalm and moisturise regularly (daily at least). I also stopped drinking totally the first time I went on it and I think I recovered quicker than the second time when I used to have few pints every so often (e.g. my liver tests only became normal about four months after I finished).

As for tiredness - I had to stop going to the gym as I found I was getting tired and stiff from physical activity. Try getting ginseng for tiredness. There's a website www.healthspan.co.uk who export vitamins from Guernsey in the Channel Islands. They're perfectly reputable (a friend of mine who's about to qualify as a doctor recommended them) and they're cheap because there's no tax etc. You should think about getting some zinc supplements too for your lips\skin. They do a combined zinc\vitamin c product that could help with your flus too!

I was put on RoAccutatne for six months back when I was about 18/19. Whilst I was a bit disturbed when handed 3 A4 sheets stapled together listing all the possible side-effects, the most I ever got was chaffed lips and dry skin (I was sh*tting it about the possible loss of hair - given I have long hair :D )

I didn't suffer any tiredness, despite being very physically active in both my part-time job and sports however.

As for scars, I had them before I ever started treatment with RoAccutane.

It's very much on a per-person basis as to what side-effects RoAccutane will cause unfortunately. Just look after yourself and be sensible whilst on it.
