Is it possible to play X-Box games on a PC?

    Why would you want to?

X Box is heavily subsidied and the Xbox games correspondingly overpriced.

Thus there is much more interest in "modding" an X Box to be a PC and run PC games or Run Linux etc.

It is not hard to make an X-Box think it is a regular PC. Despite MS policy on this, done correctly to your own X-Box it only invalidates the Manufacturer's warrenty.

It is probabily not impossible to go the other way, but it would involve illegal use of X-Box Bios/OS (a varient of NT/Win2K/XP family, which also Windows CE is) copied only available from an X Box.

Of course lately PC games, PS2 games, GBA games, Gamecube games have also reached crazy prices, such that if the prices rise more the game players will spontanously boycott all new purchases and price bubble will burst.

I note that this may be starting to happen on CD-Audio, though the prices have fallen they are still grossly overpriced.

ATM there is NO X-BOX emu capable of running commercial games at anything near full speed. Things are progressing, some wireframe views of Turok but nothing to the elvel of whjat I imagine you are after.

http://www.ngemu.com/xbox/ has some news on various projects which may be of interest to you.

    So a 2GHz 1500 Euro PC can emulate a 99 Euro (Broadband special offer) 733MHz (?) Badly.

mehinks some people have too much spare time. Still a harmless programming thing. Better than out scripting a few new Worms etc.

But I can buy TWO X-Boxes for what an "upgrade" of my PC to run that Emulator would cost!

If you are getting Broadband from Eircom anyway, the 99 Euro X-Box offer is good. Otherwise it is stunningly bad value.

Maybe in a year to two years if I get a new PC then, both it and the Xbox emulator might be good enough ;)
