Someone who designs business processes :D even though from experience they seem to be very thin on the ground.

Just think of a business process as a set of activities to achieve a result based on a request, basically workflow. It would be someone that would (I guess) model and re-engineer existing processes with a view to making them more formalised, perhaps update them to reflect new requirements or policies, hopefully make them more efficient and deal with exceptions that may occur as part of the processes.

But don't quote me on it :)

    that seems pretty accurate Dazberry.

it involves looking at workflow and proceedures, and documenting them. May involve some soft of software like livelink or Documentum.
its a kind of information management.

becoming more important with recent Sorbanes-Oxley ruling effecting listed companies.

at least, thats what it is in our company. of course, titles and descriptions may change throughout different organisations.

Sorry I just realised you were asking me this. No I saw it on one of the Job websites and also one of the agencies asked me had I done it. Whereas I've done some business analyst work on IT projects, but have no formal training in it. The job going was in a insurance company and I was wondering how far removed it would be from the IT work I'd done. I suspect quite a bit, so I didn't go for it.

Their spare time? You are joking I hope. Most of the work I did was on automating document production and similar such projects. Short term contracts, design a solution, pitch it, then see it through development till it goes live. But they were small projects 3-4months in length only.
