Does anybody know if these two parts are compatible,..
    http://www.zalman.co.kr/english/product/cnps7000alcu.htm

    and Asus P4C800 Mainboard for S478/800mhz I875P.

I not 100% sure if the zalman heatsink will clear the capacitors above the cpu also the northbridge heatsink if very close.Any advice would be much appreciated.

If you go by restriction No. 2: Compatible if there is no component with a height of 39mm or higher in the 55mm radius of the center of the CPU, then you're ok. The capacitors beside the clips, although just within 50mm of the centre of the CPU, are only about 22mm high.

As for restriction 1, there's nothing on the sides of the plastic clip that would interfere with the Zalman's bar.

If you want to be really sure, I'll let you know on Monday evening, as I'll be putting that exact combination together.. :)

You can find the list of incompatible mobo's on Zalman's site. Also list of mobo's where you have to clip off the end of the brackets, etc

It works with most motherboards, but check it out on the site before you buy. I've seen many disappointed people with Abit NF7 boards (great board and very popular with enthousiasts) that had bought the Zalman and couldn't use it

Well, finally got the Zalman and it fits just fine on the P4C800. Lots of space, even though it is a monster! Go for it. A good cheap place for it is www.HiTide.ie if you like

Got the zalman 7000 cu to fit on the abit nf7s v2.0. It was a tight fit, and I had to take a hacksaw to the zalmans mounting clamp to remove the outer hole. The socket 7 only use's the inner mouting holes. It wont fit on an nf7s v1, cos that board has no holes for mounting heat sinks, but it may fit on the v1.2, tho Im not sure.

The zalman rocks tho. vcore 1.8 at 49 C.Tis a pity my psu aint quite enough for me to appreacate its silence tho.

Thats very interesting, was it much of a mod to get it to fit? It says its incompatible with the NF7/NF7-S on the website.

[edit] i mean is the Zalman usable on another board after it, did you cut much off, is it actually using all 4 mounting holes?

Loki, just an FYI, going by the manual I got with it, the inner holes are used for mounting on the P4 and Socket 462, while only the outer holes are used by Socket 746 chips. I saw an article somewhere that describes what Ajnag did, but it would make it useless for a Athlon64 / 754.

    Edit:
Found something like it. A picture tells a thousand words... :)

Nice1 , thats a good link (have it in fav's). Its very close fitting and you have to mod it..... which im well use to. I have that same NB cooler, nice little guide for that also.

Was thinkin of replacing my water cooling with the Zalman 7000, or mabye put it into my second rig (A7N8X)......either way, cheers for the info :)

    Thanks guys for sharing that

Knew the way to saw off the end of the clip, but didn't know that would apply to the nf7s v2.0

    COL_LOKI, your next project? ;)

Only pain is it won't work with Athlon 64 then, unless you can get your hands on another clip, or make one yourself
