I've been nominated as our new one-person office social committee. I gotta organise some kind of a evening/nite out for about 40 peeps, it has to involve some kinda activity and boozing but must be a Friday so that cuts out Shelbourne Pk ,my initial thought. Anybody got any good suggestions, it's a pretty young crowd ......help !!!!!!

I'm on the committe in our place:

paintballing, karting, quiz night, dog track, scavenger hunt (based on pubs ;)) all usually go down well!

Paintballing is a must!! Its class! But then again you have to take everyone into consideration, so what kind of system is it in your office? Do you put forward a few suggestions and then everyone votes and majority wins, or is it all up to you??

Some poeple might love paintball, but then you have to think about the few who might not! What are they going to do if they dont want to do it? I know there usually is a few, but you just have to find a happy medium!!

The above suggestions are pretty good....

I'm on the Sports & Social Committee in our company and here's a few of the most popular things we've done:

The Cube - Bus that brings 40 guests from bar to bar (you select the route). Band and a bar on boards and the bus is nicely furbished. This has been by far the most successful night and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

More info here : The Cube
The Barge Cafe - Based on the Grand Canal the barge will cater for about 50 people and has a band and a full bar onboard. You board the barge across the road from the Mespil Hotel and travel up the canal for a few hours. Very good on warm evenings as the top deck is open during good weather.

More info here : The Barge Cafe

Other popular nights include the dogs (Shelbourne Park and Harolds Cross), table quizzes and karoke...

As sleepy said karting goes down well. I used to organise stuff in work too, before coming out here to Brussels. Pub Quizes (take a bit more sorting) and stuff like bowling are always good too.

The Ghost Bus tour is a laugh as well, and worth the hour or so

Paintballing will not go down well with some of the ladies , at all !!! I'm pretty much the brains behind it although Im sure if they disagree they will be vocal !

we went karting in work over at kylemore in parkwest i think it was...

great night out.. we had a pretty big crowd at that one... about 80 i think it was... and everyone got about 4 or 5 races each in 3 hours or so....

the grand prix they do is good fun and of course it gets competitive....

my mates place had a great idea... it was called a putting quiz...

basically there are 4 set distances 2m, 4m, 6m, 8m.. whatever you want.... the closer you take the shot the harder the question.... they just used one of those executive putting hole things on carpet etc... apparently it was good fun and it sounded like a laugh from all accounts...

and of course before.. he was all "yeah youre all crap and im gonna get you"... etc...

    a it was a great occasion...:D

Does any room in the office have lots of wheely chairs? Yes? Then a jousting tourney is what you want. Teams of two, one to push the chair, and one to stand on it with the paper bin on their arm aimed at the other combatant.

On a night shift alone, you have to make do with what you have to hand...
