Weight is an issue to consider. I have an ultra light 256mb mp3 player - 100 euro. Controls are a little fiddly but I wouldn't change it for anything heavier ever! Magicstar something or other. (Surprise surprise, I have ANOTHER gadget)

Smaller is better. You only want a HD player because you want to overload it with all of your music collection. :)

Get a 256mb or 512mb player solid state player. I have a 512mb player, and that can store 170+ songs at 96kps (WMA). I can train for days without hearing the same song twice....

Alot of bounceing about isn't good for a harddisk at all and one fall on the ground and you could say bye-bye to it. Either way theres a very high chance that it won't last long on your belt as you jog around. A solid state mp3 player would be much better. No moveing parts to shake about, smaller and lighter!

Creative do some good ones like the Muvo and romba (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000CGUSM/qid=1080898069/sr=1-7/ref=sr_1_11_7/026-4763543-1242045) but there are plenty of small mp3 players around that will do the job.

Lots of movement like jogging can damage a harddrive like that. Whatever may happen with skipping, you don't want the unit breaking after a few months. Get something with flash memory, or if you really need more space a microdrive (though that's still not ideal). Really wouldn't recommend a harddrive based player for jogging though.

Warning: You tend to turn up the volume a lot louder outdoors which can damage your ears.

Anyway, warning aside I find the iRiver 390-FP is the business. Solid-state is the way to go for running, no worries about impact on a harddrive.

One word IPOD, its the best MP3 player around full stop and i use it while running and there's no skipping, just put it in the case and clip it to your jocks, and away you go

When I hear IPOD the one word I think of is exorbitant (the price that is), unless ya know someone working in apple!

Yup i use my ipod too..I'd usually hold it cos I dont like it in my pocket when i'm running or some of the machines have a little rim or a compartement that you can rest it in. It never skips on me and I have an i-skin cover which is a jelly-rubber "skin" that fits over the ipod and really protects it from scratches or bumps. I like using the ipod becuase space isn't an issue - when I had a smaller cap player i'd find that i'd delete stuff off it to make room for a new album but thats not a prob(yet) with the ipod.. Also you hear stories abt the battery but they're something like €50 and come with instructiions.....I got my lovely ipod when i was in the US last year...I was going to get it online but I think Apple have some rule where they won't export their stuff so Amazon.com wouldn't ship an ipod out of the US - loads of other sites were like that too...maybe its changed now...

Hi, I did a lot of research on this and eventually got my mp3 player in the US. It's now for sale in Ireland through buy4now I believe (double the price though over here - all mp3's are).

The model is iriver 390T (256MB). It is absolutely 10 out of 10.

    iriver.com is the website.

    Cheers,

    Kevin

You could try this place - they have LOADS : http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk....or amazon.de is in Euros and usually works out cheaper than places like amazon.co.uk....
