    Hi,

For some unknown reason the place where i insert my SD card stoped working.

I have a thing built into the PC .(there when i bought it) it has 4 places to insert cards, like "smart media", 2SD/MMC. MS/MS Pro cards. etc.

I was taking images from a card i use in my digital as i do all the time and it just stop working.

then when i went to check the drives in My Computer they where all gone. all that was left was Drive A, Drive C Drive D and Drive E,

    I usually have f,g, h and i aswell.

I check the device manager and seen this

I know that little yellow ! means trouble

what does it mean and how can i fix them

I have tried to remove the drive and reinstall it. did work , also the trouble shooting didnt do anything.

anyone know what to do ??

Those cards readers are connected to the internal usb connectors on the MB, sometimes they come lose, you should check this first.

    Thanks joePC

    how do i check?

when the PC is starting there is a green light on the site on each insert, the one i use flashs while the pc starts.

    once started it doesnt work

even tho it lights up they still maybe lose, you need to open the case and follow the wires from the drive to the connectors on the MB if there all connected then close the case.

Sounds like it maybe a driver problem, go to the device manager and uninstall the problem device then restart see if it detects the device and reinstalls the nessicery drivers.

    Thanks joePC

i've tryed to deleted them twice,

when i restart they do come back but still not working,

in the device status is say this

"This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."

I dont want to open my machine if i dont have to.

try getting new drivers from the manufaturers website and installing them

Also uninstall anything you recently installed, such as any programs that create "Virtual drives". they could be conflicting.

    i'll try getting new drivers.

But the thing is, I had the CD card in i took some images off it,

then the light on the drive just went off and nothing worked from there.

remove the driver and the hardware and reboot.once you're rebooted, reinstall the driver and then shut down. then plug the hardware back into the motherboard (making sure you know exatly where you unplugged it inc. what way round it was when you unplugged it). also check the cable at the device end too. once you have that done then boot your PC again and see if it finds the hardware. if not you're probably loking at a hardware failure, and might need to get a new one. see if you can try it in another PC with the correct socket on the motherboard just to make sure before you go out and spend some cash on a new one.

try it in another machine, but it really does sound like hardware failure from the way you described it.
