If you were there, were you blown away by the Blair / Bush images with the Bill Hicks quote over it?

America's war on terrorism — aided, of course by British Prime Minister Tony Blair — is a particularly sore spot for the Furries, according to Bunford.

"You can't really avoid that, can you?" he says. "There's a war on, yet these days it's almost like a sports event. The media probably treats it the same way; going to war is like the World Cup or something."

Now on their second American tour in six months, Bunford says he and his bandmates — Gruff Rhys, Dafydd Ieuan, Cian Ciaran and Guto Pryce — are encountering more anti-war voices at their concerts on this trip than the last one.

"We're finding the people are more pissed off about Bush than we are; they have to live here, after all," Bunford says. "We do a song called 'The Man Don't Give a F***' that's pretty heavy visually. It's pretty obvious what it means: We've got pictures of Bush and Blair and then (comedian) Bill Hicks comes on saying 'All governments are murders and liars.'

"That used to split the audience, but now it just seems accepted," Bunford says. "Then again, if people come specifically to see us, they're not apt to be surprised by our political beliefs. We're not trying to shock anyone, just redress the balance."

I was in the balcony so couldn't really see what was happening on screen. It was still a fantastic show though.

One question: does anyone know who the support band were? There was about seven of them, Welsh accents, sounded very much like the SFAs themselves.

They're called Zabrinski. Only caught the end of them, what were the rest of it like?

I heard on good authority that they're very good and certainly deserve a listen. Some of their instruments weren't workin' or the guitar was broke or sumit like that. I couldn't really understand what the guy said cos of his accent, and I think he could've been stoned too!

Thanks jmc, I've been trying to find out all week. Me and my mate thought they were quite good, some very solid tunes, and definitely one to look out for in future. Having said that, I'm hoping there's some downloads on that site cause it can be hard to get a good feel for something when you hear it the first time live.

I'm going to see SFA supported by Zabrinski AND the amazing Goldie Lookin' Chain in London next week ... Can't wait, I saw the Furries in November and it was probably the best gig I've ever been too.

    *me trembles in glorious anticipation*
