There's a difference between needing one and wanting one. I definitely don't need one, but I definitely do want one, although it may require moving to a larger pad to accommodate it.

    bloody hell!

    That is huge!

One question...why not put three more display cards in your PC and buy three more monitors? Woundn't that be cheaper? Or do PC's only support a max of two monitors?

Certain graphics cards support more than one monitor. Mine supports up to 3 so be no good for this then :(. You'd be looking at forking out another 1000-1500 on a graphics card that supports 4 monitors.

Not really, just get an AGP GeforceFX and a PCI GeforceFX - it wouldnt cost more than 500 quid, and if you're going to be spending 15 grand anyway....!

i know your not being serious. but that combination would be awfull, you could have one screen at 125fps and the other at 80 or so, really **** up yor aim

tomshardware showed a nice function for multi monitors for playing battlelfiend where one was used for the game and the other had the scoreboard to save you having to tab it up, such a function does not exist but i thought it was cool

That would just irritate me. No way! I do not like it!

I'm still pissed at that company for bumping up the price of their Hollywood Silver laptops by $800 just a few weeks before I planned on getting mine.

Well people do use multimonitors for things other than playing first person shooters you know  Besides, there are only a couple of games which actually support multiple monitors so your case would never really happen in the first place.... in those that do have multimon support the frambuffer is being updated only once every frame and spread across the monitors, so it would be limited by the slowest card and give the same maximum framerate to both images.

(Oh and if your aim gets ****ed up at 80fps I think all you need is alot more practise!)

At 6400*1200 I think I might have to turn some of the detail down on UT2k4. Pity.

It'll be nice playing doom 3 and hl2 on that thing, having the 180 degree field of vision.
