Sky Box Office is down to €4.25 for this month (if you sub to Sky Movies 1 & 2) which prompted me to take a look. However, all the movies I checked were DS only, no sign of any DD broadcasts (X-Men 2, Matrix Reloaded etc). What's the story? Have Sky any plans for proper Box Office service that offers DD?

Sky used to broadcast DD on Sky+ Premiere Widescreen and Sky Box Office Widescreen. When they did the rename thingy with Sky movies they moved all of the DD output to Sky Movies 1, 2 and 3. They said that more people would get advantage of it this way and they are right. However there should be no reason why the can't extend the number of channels broadcasting DD movies, God knows box office was/is expensive enough .

    €4.25 is better value.

Some new DVD's in Xtravision are €5 to rent these days!

XtraVision is not the only DVD rental company.
In Limerick the average new release DVD rental is €4.50. Even better value if you rip it to a blank DVD+r. Cheap way to build up a quality DVD collection.;)

Good to see them at last bring the price down to below the cost of dvd rental.
A bit stupid though that they are going to put it back up after this month.
I for one would get the odd Box office movie if it was cheaper than the video shop.
But if its the same then i'd rather go down and get a DVD with DD which is 6 months newer than the one showing on Sky box office.

Are they stupid in sky or something? How does their prices and sound format attract victims to get box office movies?

sky should cop on and broadcast DD on box office while KEEPING the price below dvd rental
